Andreas Leidenroth, PhD

Andy has extensive global pharmaceutical industry and agency experience in scientific and medical communications.

 

Most recently, he was the Senior Director, R&D Science Communications at AstraZeneca, leading early R&D scientific communications across AstraZeneca’s Expert Functions in BioPharmaceuticals, Oncology, and Rare Diseases – building AstraZeneca’s corporate reputation as a global R&D leader through external corporate channels. Focus areas included genomics, gene and cell therapy, digital health, data science and AI, and clinical trial innovation.

Before moving in-house, Andy was the Executive Scientific Director at the agency Lucid Group, serving for four years as the scientific strategy lead for Global Medical Affairs and Commercial communication programmes for a blockbuster oral anti-coagulant, as well as being a key client partner and Lucid leader and manager. Prior to this, Andy's agency experience includes haematology/oncology insights activities at Vaniam Group, Medical Affairs and Commercial launch preparations for an inhaled anti-infective at Highfield Communication, and Medical Affairs launch activities for a drug–device combination at Oxford PharmaGenesis.

Andy has a strong scientific background with a PhD in Molecular Genetics, and has worked across scientific areas spanning cardiovascular medicine, anti-infectives, haematology/oncology, respiratory disease, genomics/genetics, and early R&D.
